Pageant

The Miss Helotes Pageant crowned its first Queen in 1967.  Young ladies from the Helotes area compete for a spot on the court and a chance to represent Helotes at the surrounding towns’ festivals and public appearances.

History

The first few years the production was staged at Floore’s Country Store. It moved to Helotes Elementary School then to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.  As it grew and as scholarships were added to the winner’s packages, larger areas were needed to stage the event. The pageant moved to John Marshall High School, Taft High School, the University of Texas at San Antonio, and finally to its present home at O’Connor High School.

Pageant & Prizes

Several dedicated local volunteers have worked hard to bring this Pageant to the point that participation is a coveted life experience for young ladies from 9th grade through 12th grade.  The addition of scholarships and other prize packages have added to its success. The Pageant is know for having an elegant, professional presentation and outshines many other local pageants.  This experience has been the catalyst for many accomplished young ladies who are successful in their lives and careers. The current Miss Helotes and court received a prize and gift package worth $11,000.00. Miss Helotes 2017 will receive the official custom designed 14-Karat gold, diamond, ruby and sapphire ring from Texas Diamond and Jewelry in addition to a scholarship.

Date

On Saturday, April 29, 2017, outstanding young Helotes girls will compete for the coveted title of Miss Helotes. This is the 51st anniversary of the pageant and will start 6:30p.m. at the Sandra Day O’Connor Auditorium. The Master of Ceremony is television personality, Bill Taylor, meteorologist with KENS 5. Returning to crown their successors will be reigning Miss Helotes Audrey Hysler, Princess Allison Eager, Duchess Victoria Hernandez, and Miss Congeniality Jordan Vander Poorten.

Tickets
